Echo Weaver - Controls

Echo Weaver controls guide

Echo Weaver has an unusual control scheme that is worth learning before you get too far into the game. Movement, crouching, peeking, healing and glaive attacks all have their own inputs, and some actions are easy to confuse when you first start playing.

This Echo Weaver controls guide covers the PlayStation bindings shown in the game's settings menu, along with their equivalent Xbox controller buttons. It also explains how to reset bindings and use the movement system more comfortably.

Echo Weaver Controls for PlayStation and Xbox Controllers

The PlayStation column is based on the in game controls screen. Xbox inputs below are equivalent controller positions, not independently confirmed Xbox defaults. PC keyboard bindings are not shown in the supplied menu, so they are not guessed here.

The R1 action is displayed as ??? in the supplied controls screen. Its function is not identified there, so it should not be mistaken for another confirmed attack or ability.

How Movement and Crouching Work

Use the Left Stick to move left, right and upward. Moving the stick downward is listed as Move Down / Crouch, meaning the same direction handles both actions depending on the situation.

Press Cross to jump and L1 to slide. These are separate inputs, so it is worth practising the difference before attempting a section that requires quick movement.

How to Throw and Hurl the Glaive

Echo Weaver assigns two different buttons to glaive actions:

  • Square: Throw Glaive.
  • Circle: Hurl Glaive.

Because these actions have distinct names and bindings, do not assume they behave identically. Test both when you have a safe opportunity, and pay attention to how each affects the glaive's movement and the surrounding environment.

How to Heal and Interact

Press L2 to heal and R2 to interact. Keeping these two triggers straight is especially helpful when moving through unfamiliar areas.

If an object does not respond to R2, check your position and whether the game is currently allowing interaction. The controls screen confirms the input, but individual objects may have their own requirements.

How to Use Peeking

The Right Stick is assigned to four peeking directions: up, down, left and right.

This is different from a conventional camera control scheme. Get used to using the Left Stick for movement and the Right Stick for peeking, particularly when you want to inspect an area without immediately moving into it.

How to Open the Quick Map

Press Triangle to open the Quick Map. On a controller using Xbox button positions, the equivalent input is Y.

Check the map when you lose track of your surroundings or want to reconsider where to go next.

How to Reset Echo Weaver Controls

Open the System menu and select Controls. The screenshot shows an option to reset a selected binding with Square, or hold Square to reset all bindings.

The same screen also shows Cross for Select and Circle for Close. If your controls stop behaving as expected after changing a binding, resetting the affected input is a useful first step.
