Wobbly Life - Controls

Wobbly Life Controls Guide

Wobbly Life looks simple until you try carrying a jelly through a doorway, loading cargo into a van or flying a helicopter without sending everyone inside it through the windscreen. Its deliberately loose physics are part of the fun, so knowing what each button actually does makes jobs, driving and exploration much easier.

The most important controls are the two separate grab buttons. Your Wobbly can control each arm independently, which is used for carrying objects, pressing physical buttons, completing jobs and creating the sort of accidental chaos the game is built around.

This Wobbly Life controls guide covers the default PlayStation, Xbox and PC controls for movement, grabbing, vehicles, helicopters and useful interface commands. Some special vehicles and activities add their own contextual controls, so always watch the button prompts when using something unusual.

How Grabbing Works

L2 or LT controls the left hand and R2 or RT controls the right hand. This is more important than a normal pickup button because Wobbly Life uses physical grabbing for a large part of its gameplay.

Move close to an object, point your character toward it and hold the appropriate grab button. Use both hands for heavy or awkward items whenever possible.

Use Two Hands for Valuable Cargo

Money bags, job objects and awkward parcels are much easier to control with both hands. One handed carrying is quicker when you need the other arm free, but physics can make loosely held objects swing around or slip away.

Grab the Object, Not the Table under It

If your Wobbly keeps grabbing the wrong thing, change your camera angle and move slightly closer. The grab system reacts to what the hand can physically reach.

Jumping, Sprinting and Ragdoll

Press Cross or A to jump. Press L3 to boost or move faster when the current situation allows it.

Square or X puts your Wobbly into ragdoll mode. It looks like a joke button, but it can actually be useful when you want your character to collapse, fit through an awkward space or simply recover from an especially ridiculous physics situation.

Do Not Sprint while Carrying Everything

Moving faster can make unstable objects much harder to control. If a timed job involves fragile or awkward cargo, a clean route is usually faster than repeatedly dropping the item.

Interaction Controls

Press Triangle on PlayStation or Y on Xbox for normal interactions such as entering vehicles, speaking to characters and activating contextual prompts.

Physical buttons in the world can also be hit or manipulated using your Wobbly's hands, so not every switch is activated with the Interact button.

Map and Emote Controls

Press the touchpad on PlayStation or the View button on Xbox to open the map. The map is especially useful before delivery jobs because destinations can be spread across different parts of Wobbly Island.

Press D Pad Down to open the emote wheel. Emotes are mostly for fun and multiplayer communication, but they fit naturally into the social sandbox side of the game.

Vehicle Controls

Accelerate R2 RT
Handbrake Cross A
Horn Press L3 Press Left Stick
Vehicle Boost where supported Circle B
Vehicle Weapon where supported R2 RT

Look Right R1 RB

Vehicles can have additional contextual functions depending on what you are driving. Cars, boats, aircraft, UFOs and Space vehicles do not all use exactly the same secondary actions.

Driving Tips for the Controls

Use the Handbrake for Tight Corners

Cross or A can help rotate a vehicle when a delivery route suddenly turns through a narrow street. Do not hold it through every corner because the exaggerated physics can quickly turn a controlled slide into a crash.

Load Cargo before Driving Away

Some jobs require physical objects to remain inside a vehicle. Place them securely before accelerating and close any available rear doors or cargo mechanisms when the vehicle provides them.

Boost Only on Clear Roads

Circle or B activates boost on supported vehicles. It is excellent for long straights and much less useful when the next object in your path is a lamp post.

Helicopter Controls

Helicopter Action PlayStation Xbox
Steer Left Stick Left Stick
Ascend R2 RT
Camera Right Stick Right Stick

Aircraft controls can vary depending on the vehicle. Treat the on screen prompts as the final reference whenever you enter a helicopter, plane or special flying vehicle.

UFO and Special Vehicle Controls

Some unlockable vehicles have unique functions. The UFO, for example, can use a beam, while several special vehicles include weapons, boosts or unusual movement systems.

These actions are contextual and appear on screen when the vehicle is active. Do not assume that a button used for boost in a normal car will perform the same function in every unlockable vehicle.

Easy Grab Setting

If carrying objects feels more frustrating than funny, open Options and look for Easy Grab Enabled.

This setting makes picking up objects easier and is particularly helpful for younger players, local multiplayer sessions or anyone who would rather concentrate on jobs and exploration than precise physics positioning.

Useful Controller Settings

Wobbly Life also provides settings for controller sensitivity, vibration, inverted camera movement and other interface behaviour.

PC players using a controller should check Enable Player 1 Gamepad if the controller navigates menus correctly but does not control the first character.

Learn the Hands before Anything Else

The best way to get comfortable with Wobbly Life is to spend a few minutes grabbing ordinary objects with each hand. Pick something up, transfer it between hands, carry it with both hands and place it inside a vehicle.

Once grabbing feels natural, almost everything else becomes easier. Jobs are faster, puzzle objects are less awkward and loading a van no longer turns into a five minute wrestling match with a cardboard box.
