The best The Pathless tips and tricks are less about combat and more about learning how the island wants you to move through it. There is no conventional minimap directing you from icon to icon. Instead, you read the landscape, use Spirit Vision, solve ruins, collect Lightstones and gradually turn the Hunter and her eagle into an incredibly mobile pair.

These spoiler light tips explain the systems that make the biggest difference during a first playthrough, from maintaining speed to finding Lightstones and protecting your crystals.

Do Not Stop Moving to Shoot Every Talisman

This is the habit that transforms The Pathless. Talismans are deliberately placed along natural travel routes, and hitting one replenishes spirit energy while providing a burst of speed.

Keep dashing while you acquire the next target. The game assists your aim, so you do not need to stop and carefully position a crosshair. Hold the shot until it is ready, release it and continue running.

Soon you will begin spotting chains of talismans ahead and planning entire routes around them.

Use Spirit Vision From High Ground

There is no traditional map covered in objective markers, so elevation is valuable. Reach a hill, tower or obelisk and activate Spirit Vision before deciding where to go next.

Important unresolved locations become much easier to identify. Pick one promising destination, investigate it and scan again from your next good vantage point. This feels far more natural than trying to clear an entire region in a rigid pattern.

Understand What Lightstones Are For

Lightstones are central to regional progression. Each major region contains three corrupted obelisks that must be cleansed before you can properly confront its corrupted spirit.

The opening Forest Plateau requires one relevant Lightstone for each obelisk. Later main regions require two per obelisk. You do not need every optional Lightstone simply to progress through the main story.

That distinction matters. If your goal is to continue the adventure, concentrate on the number required by the obelisks rather than assuming every puzzle in the region must be completed first.

Yellow Crystals Are Worth the Detour

Yellow crystals improve one of the most useful abilities in the game: the eagle's capacity to gain altitude with additional flaps.

More flaps mean higher climbs, longer aerial routes and easier access to elevated puzzles. If you see an achievable crystal puzzle nearby, it is usually worth investigating rather than treating it as meaningless collectible cleanup.

Shoot Talismans in the Air

Talismans are not only useful while running. A successful aerial shot can give the Hunter additional momentum, which makes it possible to extend jumps and maintain a fast line toward your destination.

Try jumping near the end of a ground dash and firing at a convenient talisman before transitioning into an eagle glide. It creates a much smoother route than treating running and flying as completely separate forms of travel.

Do Not Waste Eagle Flaps Too Early

When gliding toward a distant destination, resist the urge to spend every flap immediately. The eagle naturally loses altitude, so a flap becomes more valuable when you actually need to regain height or clear an obstacle.

Start high whenever possible, glide naturally and use your available flaps strategically. Combining that with aerial talisman shots can cover a surprising amount of ground.

Read a Puzzle Before You Start Firing

Many puzzles in The Pathless revolve around positioning rather than difficult aiming. Look at rings, flames, moving mechanisms, eagle interactions and the route an arrow needs to travel before repeatedly shooting at the obvious target.

If a shot appears impossible, the answer is often a different firing position or a change to something in the environment. Walk around the structure and inspect it from another height before deciding you are missing an ability.

Your Eagle Can Be Part of the Puzzle

Some puzzles require more than arrows. Watch for objects that the eagle can pick up, transport or reposition. If a mechanism appears to require something from the opposite side of a gap, consider whether your companion can move it for you.

This is particularly useful to remember because it is easy to become so accustomed to using the eagle for flight that you forget it can directly interact with the environment.

Take Corrupted Spirit Storms Seriously

The enormous red storms roaming a region are not conventional combat encounters. If you are caught, the corrupted spirit separates you from your eagle and begins searching for you.

Avoid its gaze, use the environment for cover and work your way back toward your companion. Once you reach the eagle, cleanse it as required to escape the encounter.

Getting caught can cost you crystals, so charging directly through the spirit's vision is rarely worth the risk.

You Can Sometimes Avoid the Storm Entirely

If the roaming corruption is approaching and you are not interested in the encounter, nearby structures can provide safety. Instead of panicking and sprinting across exposed ground, look for shelter and allow the danger to pass when possible.

This is especially useful if you have recently collected crystals that you do not want to risk losing.

Collect More Lightstones After Defeating a Region's Spirit

Optional Lightstones still have a purpose after the main regional objective is complete. Collecting the remaining stones and using the structure that appears after defeating a corrupted spirit can lead to a Gift from the Tall One.

These gifts provide genuine ability improvements rather than cosmetic rewards. They can enhance spirit energy recovery, talisman speed boosts, gliding and powerful eagle flaps.

Players interested in exploration or full completion should therefore avoid abandoning a region permanently as soon as its boss is defeated.

Do Not Treat Bosses Like Traditional Fights

The Pathless is not built around ordinary weapon combat. Boss encounters test the same abilities you have been practicing during exploration: moving quickly, maintaining momentum, timing shots and working with the eagle.

During chase sequences, concentrate on your route and talisman rhythm rather than firing wildly. Keeping your movement clean usually makes the required shots easier because you remain in a useful position relative to the spirit.

Explore Without Trying to Clear Everything Immediately

It is tempting to treat every glowing location as an item that must be crossed off before moving on. The Pathless is more enjoyable when exploration remains flexible.

Solve nearby ruins, collect useful crystals, gather the Lightstones you need and move toward whatever catches your attention. You can return for optional puzzles and additional Lightstones later, often with stronger eagle abilities that make travelling back considerably quicker.

The Best Early Skill Is Simply Finding Your Rhythm

Before worrying about perfect exploration, become comfortable with the basic movement loop. Dash toward a talisman, charge a shot, release it without stopping, jump into the next shot and eventually transition into a glide.

That rhythm is the heart of The Pathless. Once you stop thinking about each button individually, the island stops feeling enormous and starts feeling like a playground built for speed.
