NHL 26 Controls

NHL 26 has three main control schemes: Total Control, Skill Stick, and Hybrid. Total Control is the recommended modern setup because it combines right stick shooting with face-button skill moves and hits. Skill Stick gives experienced players more traditional stick-based control, while Hybrid keeps a simpler button-based layout for players who prefer classic controls.

Control Schemes

NHL 26 lets you choose between Total Control, Skill Stick, and Hybrid. Total Control is recommended for most players because it makes advanced moves easier to perform with buttons while still keeping right stick shooting. Skill Stick is better for experienced players who want more direct manual control. Hybrid is useful if you prefer a simpler, older-style layout.

  • Total Control fuses right stick shooting with button-based skill moves and hitting.
  • Skill Stick combines button controls with stick-based shooting, deking, and checking.
  • Hybrid combines buttons with some Skill Stick elements.
  • Quick Settings lets new players choose easier presets such as “I Am New To Sports Gaming.”
  • Accessibility and control options can be adjusted from the settings menu.
