Grounded - Controls

Grounded Controls

Grounded uses a survival-focused controller layout with separate inputs for movement, combat, building, inventory, radials, waypoints, and the Handy Gnat building helper. The basic controls are easy to understand, but the game has many extra shortcuts because you constantly swap between exploring, crafting, fighting bugs, placing buildings, and managing items.

Additional Notes

Grounded is a survival adventure game from Obsidian where players explore a backyard at tiny size, gather resources, craft equipment, build bases, fight insects, and follow story objectives. The controller layout supports full remapping, and the screenshots show separate categories for in-game mappings, construction mappings, Handy Gnat mappings, HotPouch slots, design mode, and UI radials.

  • R2 / RT is your main attack input and is also used for several building and Handy Gnat actions depending on mode.
  • L2 / LT is used for blocking in combat and rotating buildings counterclockwise while building.
  • L1 / LB is important for HotPouch access, snapping, building shortcuts, and Handy Gnat actions.
  • R1 / RB is commonly used for hucking, ammo radial access, creature peeping, and some building or page navigation shortcuts.
  • HotPouch slots can be customized, letting you keep weapons, tools, food, healing items, and utility items ready.
  • Handy Gnat is especially useful for base construction because it gives more control while placing, repairing, moving, and adjusting structures.
  • Controls can be changed from the controller settings menu, and the game includes options to apply changes, discard changes, or restore factory defaults.
