UFC 6 uses a layered control system built around striking, grappling, clinch work, takedowns, submissions, and ground fighting. The basic layout is easy to read, but the depth comes from modifiers: L1/LB, L2/LT, R1/RB, and R2/RT change what each face button or stick input does depending on range and position.
The controls below cover the default controller setup for PlayStation and Xbox. Some inputs can change depending on stance, fighter move set, legacy settings, or whether you are in stand-up, clinch, or ground positions.

UFC 6 Tips for Learning the Controls
UFC 6 features one of the deepest control schemes in any fighting game, but you don't need to memorize everything at once. Focus on the fundamentals before moving into advanced techniques.
Master basic striking first. Learn your jab, cross, hooks, uppercuts, and body kicks before experimenting with advanced combinations.
Practice takedown defense. Successfully defending takedowns with L2 + R2 (LT + RT) can completely change the momentum of a fight.
Learn the clinch separately. Clinch mechanics use a different control set than stand-up fighting, so spend time practicing them in Training Mode.
Use Flow State wisely. Activating Flow State during the right moments helps chain attacks together more efficiently.
Spend time in Practice Mode. UFC 6 rewards muscle memory more than button mashing. Repeating combinations and defensive reactions is the fastest way to improve.
Mix strikes and grappling. The best fighters constantly threaten both stand-up attacks and takedowns to keep opponents guessing.
That covers the complete UFC 6 controls for PlayStation and Xbox, including striking, movement, clinch fighting, grappling, submissions, and ground combat. We'll continue updating this guide if EA introduces new mechanics or changes controls through future title updates.
