Swing Stick Controls
Swing Stick is the classic PGA Tour 2K control method. Pull the selected swing stick back to start the backswing, then push it forward to strike the ball. Timing, swing path and tempo all affect the shot result, especially on higher difficulty settings.
- Backswing: Pull the selected swing stick back.
- Downswing: Push the selected swing stick forward.
- Swing Path: Keep the stick as straight as possible for clean contact.
- Tempo: Swing too fast or too slow and the ball can hook, slice or lose accuracy.
3-Click Swing Controls
PGA Tour 2K23 also includes 3-Click Swing. This option replaces the analog swing motion with timed button presses, making it easier to understand but still timing-based.
- First input: Hold and release X / A to set power.
- Second input: Press again to control swing path.
- Third input: Press again to square the club face.
Shot Shaping, Loft and Spin
Shot shaping is handled before the swing. Hold L1 on PlayStation or LB on Xbox to open shot shaping controls. The left stick adjusts loft and shot curve, while the right stick adjusts spin behavior.
- Left Stick Left / Right: Add draw or fade.
- Left Stick Up / Down: Lower or raise loft.
- Right Stick Up / Down: Reduce or increase spin.
- Backspin helps stop the ball faster on the green.
- Topspin helps the ball roll farther after landing.
Useful Control Notes
- Scout Cam is useful before every serious shot because it shows the expected landing area.
- Club selection matters more than raw distance. Check wind, lie, elevation and green slope before swinging.
- Shot type changes are important for chips, pitches, flops, punches and splash shots.
- Practice Swing is useful when learning Swing Stick timing.
- 3-Click Swing is a strong option for players who prefer timing meters over analog stick movement.
- Controls can be adjusted in the settings menu, including swing input and difficulty assists.
